Job purpose

Rikolto in Tanzania is seeking Young Talent Professionals to support two key projects: Vijana Kilimo Biashara (VKB) and the Joint Programme on Accelerating Progress Towards Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE). These projects focus on enhancing food productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, and increasing economic empowerment for youth and women in the regions of Singida and Dodoma. The professionals will work closely with farmers, local partners, and stakeholders, providing technical assistance, coordinating field activities, and facilitating market linkages. Their responsibilities also include contributing to capacity-building initiatives, organizing farmer field days, and supporting data collection for project monitoring and evaluation.

Key Roles:

  • Engage with sunflower and sorghum farmers by providing practical training on Good Agronomic Practices (GAP), post-harvest handling, quality standards, and market access opportunities.
  • Coordinate and promote active youth participation in agribusiness initiatives, ensuring gender inclusion across all project activities.
  • Establish and strengthen working relationships with local government authorities, private sector actors, and other development partners to enhance project ownership and sustainability.
  • Support the documentation of success stories, lessons learned, and business case development to demonstrate project outcomes and impact.
  • Prepare and write meeting minutes, progress reports, and summaries for stakeholder meetings, coordination sessions, and other programme events.
  • Support the monitoring and documentation of changes, innovations, and progress within the business models at partner level.
  • Collaborate with Business Development Service (BDS) providers to identify and strengthen business relationships between farmers, service providers, and buyers along the value chain.
  • Supervise and conduct regular data monitoring for activities implemented by local coaches and community facilitators at cluster level.
  • Compile and maintain accurate training attendance records for farmers, local business coaches, and community facilitators.
  • Work closely with cooperative BDS providers to ensure delivery of relevant and high-quality training, and conduct follow-up visits to assess adoption.
  • Represent Rikolto in relevant stakeholder meetings, forums, and events as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Develop and sustain trust-based relationships with local authorities, farmer cooperatives, private sector actors, and other key partners involved in programme implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) specialist to collect, compile, and synthesize programme data for reporting and learning purposes.
  • Support the M&E team in conducting data analysis and providing insights as required by the supervisor.

Expected Outputs

  •  Bring Tangible Innovations to improve program implementation.
  • Quality monthly reports shared to the program coordinator and supervisor.
  •  Developed and strengthened business relationship between farmers and other system actors.
  •  Documentation of business cases (Successes and lessons) at Clusters level
  •  Well-functioning of Local business coaches and community due to quality coaching and mentorship
  • Quality M&E data are shared for decision making.
  • Increased Good communication with program stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • A graduate from 2022 onward.
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in: Agri-business Management, Agriculture Extension, Co-operative Management & Accounting, Agriculture Economics, Business Economics, or any related programme with competencies in community mobilisation, extension, stakeholder engagement, administration, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship or business development.
  • Resident in and knowledgeable about the programme areas. Successful candidates must be able to arrange their own accommodation.
  • Highly committed, disciplined and able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Be a highly committed and disciplined person capable to work actively with  different stakeholders
