JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities
• Ensure safe work practices, i.e. attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Advice, scope, supervise and review groundwater related projects and reports as required.
• Collect field data including groundwater level data, hydro census data from surrounding springs, rivers, community wells and boreholes, measuring groundwater inflow rates in pits and underground, rivers, community wells and boreholes as required.
• Develop conceptual groundwater and numeric models as required.
• Proactively advise on dewatering risks, techniques, and requirements.
• Develop advice and update dewatering Management Plans.
• Maintain and manage the site-based water balance model and provide monthly predictions as required.
• Assist the environmental purging and borehole sampling teams on best practice techniques and undertake an internal annual audit during a selected quarterly sampling exercise.
• Provide guidance on mitigation and containment measures where groundwater pollution occurs.
• Update water management plans annually or when deemed necessary.
• Manage key hydrological related studies such as pit lake modelling.
• Support Underground (UG) department and other department on dewatering strategies.
• Develop, keep up date and implement water-monitoring program across the site.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual Water and Environmental Monitoring Reports.
• Carry on inspections underground and open pits geological structures responsible for water ingress and advice best mitigation methods.
• Develop and implement participatory water monitoring/ joint water assessment plans.
• Support other environmental related work as directed by supervisor.

Qualification requirements
• A Bachelor Degree of Science in Hydrogeology.
• Professional registration with NEMC as Environmental Expert (EIA and Auditing) is an added advantage.
• Professional Scientific Registration.

Experience and Competencies needed
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a hydrogeologist, preferably in the mining industry.
• Experience and ability to work long hours in a remote site will be an added advantage.
• The strong ability to form effective working relationships that allow achievement of job requirements.
• Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively and drive results.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with crew, leadership, and clients.
• Possess knowledge of Industry standard safe working practices.
• Previous experience and knowledge of underground operations is necessary.

Candidate profile
• Bachelor Degree or Equivalent in Finance/Accounting/Business Management with emphasis in Accounting –Professional qualified –CPA/ACCA
• 4-5 year prior experience in accounting/financial reporting/Audit areas, experience working with large multinational organisations
• PC proficient and experience with various and large automated accounting system and must have experience with Microsoft excel and word, Interface with SAP core processing or similar system required.
• Strong verbal and communication skills
• Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required
• Ability to Multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able and be able to thrive in fast –paced work environment
