Position Description
• North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit a Underground Remote Technician Trainer to join and grow their team. You will be expected to align to the Barrick DNA and to operate within our mining assets with our best people teams. You will contribute in a safe and cost-effective manner to achieve targets in accordance with Mine Safety Standards, Policies and Procedures and ensure daily targets are met.

Responsibilities
• Ensure a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
• Maintaining, repairing electrical issues, diagnostics / Fault Finding and routine inspection on a variety of Remote systems (I.e. SANDVIK and RCT) and UG Machines.(I.e. SANDVIK and CAT)
• Coordinate activities in the unit and report back to Mobile Maintenance Superintendent.
• Ensure that mobile equipment is maintained in a safe and cost effective manner.
• Develop workforce to maintain the underground mines mobile equipment fleet.
• Ensure safe working practices and Hazard identification principles and processes are observed by subordinates at all times.
• Involvement with developing training programs for national workforce and carrying out competency assessments.
• Demonstrate commitment to safe work practices by example and act immediately on any unsafe act or situation observed and monitor standards.
• Full compliance with the OEM repair procedures and all safety and training protocols.
• Complete all training module within the auto electrical and maintenance skills matrix program.
• Monitor mine underground auto electrical activities and eliminate any wasteful practices, ensuring agreed target for maintenance are met.
• Support and work through the departmental tactical plans to achieve the overall business objective.
• Developing and managing equipment component change outs and rebuilds where necessary.
• Investigate and implement latest technology that will improve auto electrical works.

Qualification requirements
• A relevant trade qualification in mechanical or Technician Certificate from a recognized institution.
• A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired

Experience and competencies needed
• Minimum of 8 years’ Artisanal experience in mine auto electrical maintenance role..
• Good working knowledge of auto electrical maintenance planning/scheduling.
• Experienced in maintenance practices and techniques.
• Experience in large underground mining operation.
• Experience in delivering technical training programmes.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with People of diverse cultures and levels.
• Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a safe working environment and practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Computer skills –MS Excel, Access, Word.
• Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment.
• Driving ability.

JOB DETAILS:
Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing mechanical issues, diagnostics / Fault Finding and Routine inspection on a variety of UG Fixed Plant equipment/machines.

• Ensure the preparation and execution of maintenance plans and schedules on the basis of daily, weekly and monthly mining and ore processing priorities.
• Supervising, training, developing and nationalization of the maintenance team.
• End of month reporting of maintenance performance against plan.
• The quality, cost and timeliness of maintenance activities are critical to the project as a whole.
• Display a sense of urgency to ensure timely repair and maintenance of mine equipment.
• Contribute to the operations by ensuring that all maintenance activities are planned and completed in a cost effective manner with minimal disruption to ore processing and mining activities.
• Demonstrate commitment to safe work practices by example and act immediately on any unsafe act or situation observed and monitor standards.
• Actively promote and foster the development of a pro-active site safety behaviors that makes safety an integral part of all work activities.
• Identify and rectify/report specific hazards using Job Safety Analysis (JSA) process.
• Assist with accident/incident investigation and with the induction and training of new employees
• Ensure all employees reporting to this position attend safety related training courses and engage in any of the company’s safety initiatives.

Qualification requirements

Responsibilities
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, clamp ammeters, insulation testers to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
• Help design, wire or re-wire electrical circuits to improve the reliability of the electrical equipment.
• Help plan for periodical unit checks, to prevent premature failure of the equipment.
• Maintain current electrician's license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
• Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications.
• Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Assist to determine critical spare parts to generate strategic critical list and reasonable stock level for spare parts.
• Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
• Ensure that effectively managing discipline with reference to absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc. within the section sustain good work ethics.

Experience and competencies needed
Underground / Surface Mining industry experience.
• Processing plant experience.
• Preference will be given for experience in HV/LV Switchgear Protections, Underground mechanized mining. Conveyor systems, Pump stations, Compressors, Transformers, Motors, Soft Starters, Variable Speed Drives.
• Generators/Power Systems, previous experience with control systems and instrumentation. SCADA, PLC, RCT tele remote’s, leaky feeder communications, ikon and development firing line systems, and fiber optic reticulation.
• A minimum of 5 years relevant experience and exposure working Underground / Surface mining environment.
Extensive experience with:
• HV/LV Electric Motors/Transformers
• HV/LV Switchgears and Protections
• Standby Generators/Power Systems
• Cable jointing, termination and fault-finding capabilities
• Reading Electrical drawings (Schematic and Single Line Diagrams)
• HV/LV switching and control systems
• Excellent knowledge of High/Low Voltage systems and Switchgears complete with protections.
• Excellent Knowledge of Standby Generators/Power Systems
• HV/LV cable jointing.
• RAW fan and secondary fans installation, inspections and maintenance.
• Exceptional skills in field Electrical maintenance, faultfinding and troubleshooting.
• Must be capable of reading electrical drawings.
• Must understand the principle of Electrical Protections.
• Installations, calibrating and maintaining all instrumentation, HMI, PLC, SCADA on CAF plants, batch plants, Paste plant, power generation.
• Strong Safety Background and ability to drive a safe working environment and practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Computer skills – MS Excel, Access, Word, Outlook.
