JOB DETAILS:
To undertake collection of relevant geotechnical data and assist in providing stope and development geotechnical design recommendations for the assigned underground mine(s). Assist in reflective use of relevant geotechnical data to undertake short to medium term stope and ore development evaluations and resolve mining related geotechnical problems for the assigned underground mine(s). Assist in implementing applicable risk management systems to ensure short to medium term safe operation for the assigned underground mine(s).

Qualifications:
• An undergraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, or equivalent is essential. Post graduate diploma or degree in geotechnical engineering if first degree is not in geotechnical or engineering geology field.

Main Or Key Accountabilities:
• Underground Geotechnical Data Collection.
• Undertake timely collection of underground geotechnical data from various sources and ensuring that collected data meets the required quality standards.
• Assist in ensuring data collection for investigating ground conditions and underground workings is current.
• Geotechnical Modelling.
• Undertake data validation on all collected geotechnical data prior to use in analysis. Assist in the undertaking of timely analysis and interpretation of all geotechnical data.
• Assist in generating, reconciling, and updating 3D geotechnical models of ground conditions.
• Assist in compiling and issuing of mapping release updates.
• Stope and Ore Development Evaluation.
• Undertake stope stability assessment using the recommended techniques or methodologies.
• Assist in assessing annual and LOM plans to advise on the safest mining sequence using numerical modelling.
• Assist in completion of performance analysis, using various geotechnical engineering software or otherwise for sub-surface excavations and underground mine structures.
• Underground Support and Fall of Ground Risk Mitigation.
• Undertake assessment of the risks posed by poor ground conditions and presence of adverse geological structures to the working levels.

Electrical, Instrumentation and Power Plant Manager

Reports to
the Factory Executive Officer
Core Job Description:To assist the Factory Executive Officer in efficient running of the day- to-day operations related to electricity and instrumentation in the sugar factory, the power plant, the distribution to irrigation network, the export of electricity to the National grid and any new projects, to ensure achievement of production, consumption and budget targets.

Key Accountabilities
• Achievement of production targets at required efficiency levels abiding by safety, quality and environmental norms.
• To ensure sufficient development of staff, including succession plans, for of all levels of subordinate staff in order to safeguard continuous efficient operation of section in the event of any expected/unexpected staff movements.
• To adopt a continuous improvement approach to all aspects (Operations, Assets, People) of the section as well as on electricity consumption and production over the entire Estate.
• To report to the Factory Executive on regular basis on the progress and difficulties encountered by Heads of Sections (HOS) under his/her responsibility to meet their targets.
• To support Factory Executive with necessary technical advice if and when required.
• To perform any other related duties as may be assigned.

Core Competencies
• Should demonstrate ability to Good technical skills, such as rotating-equipment vibration analysis and ability to troubleshoot control and instrument systems.
• Proven experience in a managerial role within a factory.
• Creativity and strong analytical skills to solve complex technical challenges with innovative solutions.

• Good analytical and planning skills including exposure to finance/administrative aspects of a factory.
• Ideally some experience on quality standards, e.g. ISO5001, 14000 etc

Personal Specifications
Degree in Electrical Engineering or in any related fields from a recognized institution.Formal electrical (or relevant) engineering educational background paramount (steam turbo alternators and ancillary equipment, operation,maintenance, and control system). A combination of relevant academic qualifications and experience working in Africa would be a great plus, Sugar experience ideal but not necessary;relevant experience in similar industry is vital
