JOB DETAILS:

The Senior Research Assistant will support gender and youth-sensitive demand and market characterization study for target crops in the targeted regions, promote the use of innovative technologies in production and postharvest handling that are gender-sensitive, and support in building capacity to off-takers including but not limited to suppliers of required technologies, and linkage to grain producers. He or She will also Promote good agronomic practices (GAP) including Digital technologies, training of farmers on-farm produce processing, and establishment of marketing networks.

Duties and responsibilities
• Support in management and oversight of the production, and marketing activities.
• Participate in the development and testing of sustainable market linkages and business models that enhance market access of smallholder farmers in collaboration with market value chain actors and other stakeholders
• Support in designing, implementing, and monitoring of on-farm demonstration plots
• Assist in coordinating with the district staff to provide extensive knowledge to farmers
• Assist in organizing and conducting training for farmers and community extension staff
• Support in data collection, entry, analysis, and synthesis.
• Contribute to result communication to value chain key actors
• Support in coordinating activities with project partners as may be necessary
• Coordinating with the nutrition and market teams to ensure cooperation
• Support in routine planning and reporting meetings
• Preparation of regular reports for field activities
• Any other duties as may be assigned by supervisor

Requirements
• Bachelor degree in agriculture general, Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness or related field.
• At least three (3) years of experience of facilitating marketing activities with partners
• Past working experience in common bean, sunflower, and cassava is an added advantage.
• Computer proficiency including MS Office (Word/ PowerPoint, advanced excel skills, and SPSS)
• Experience in data entry, data management, quality assurance, and timely reporting
• Knowledge of data collection tools including structured questionnaires.
• Ability to work within a team under minimum supervision and deliver results.
• Excellent interpersonal with advanced written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multi-cultural environment
• Ability to liaise with other project implementing multi-disciplinary teams
• Ability to do multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines
• Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision, but also participate as a team member in the accomplishment of duties.

About the role
Sightsavers are currently seeking a Data Systems Officer to work within our Data Analytics and Reporting Team (DART) to support data capture and management of the Programme Portal and Sightsavers organisational output data collection system.
As the Data Systems Officer you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of their system, including user support and overseeing the submission of data for Sightsavers’ projects across more than 30 countries.
You will also support key team members with the further development and integration of this essential organisational system into programme monitoring and reporting work

Key duties will include:
• Create and support maintenance of project & programme sites ensuring all information remains up-to-date and accurate
• Supporting mapping of project indicators to organisational standard indicators and adding all indicators to project sites
• Maintain user guidance and induction materials
• Provide both initial and ongoing training and support to system users
• Manage the team’s service desk for system support requests
• Support DART members to ensure service desk is aligned to current operational support needs
• Track data submissions and compliance with reporting deadlines
• Liaise with Country Offices and other colleagues to address queries and errors
• Support the ongoing development and integration of organisational data capture and monitoring systems
• Support the development and implementation of processes that support good practice and high quality in data management for our programmes

About you
As the ideal candidate you will have experience in a similar role (or hold a degree in a relevant field) and of working on IT systems development and support, as well as possessing a background in reviewing and testing software, and of delivering training and/or supporting staff learning in different contexts (face to face, online)

Experience using SharePoint and MS Teams
Written and spoken French or Portuguese

Duties And Responsibilities

• Support ethics applications, required Data Transfer Agreements and approvals as required for running the project as well as storage of all project documents including approvals, IRBs and reports
• Manage data collection, data entry, report preparations and documentation of information needed for the project
• Assist in making sure that monitoring and evaluating process is adhered to as well as stock keeping of project supplies and equipment
• Establish project work plan and calendar or schedules for implementation in selected centers of Tanzania
• Be a liaison with study sites and project leaders (Principal Investigator and Project Managers) to ensure timely and quality achievements of the project deliverables
• Be responsible for the organizing trainings at different sites in Tanzania
• Source information required to embark on the projects i.e venue, participants, catering, practical consumables, procurement requisitions, prepare travel reimbursements requests, cost transfers and monitor project financial expenditures
• To participate in wider Global Children Surgery Research activities such as Grand Rounds, team meetings, conferences etc.

Qualifications And Experience
• Holder of bachelor degree in one of the following fields: Medicine,Nursing, Pharmacy or Medical Laboratory who has completed internship and registered by reputable council.
• Minimum of 2 years working experience as a Research Assistant officer in NGO or Research institution
