Essential Function
• An Administrative Assistant is a supportive role in an office, responsible for providing support to our managers, co-workers, assisting daily office needs and manage our general administrative activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the facilities day to day operations such as handling administrative requests and queries from managers
• Establish work schedules and ensure their effective implementation in the Administration Office.
• Answer and direct phone calls, arrange and organize appointments, plan meetings and taking detailed minutes.
• Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, and letters.
• Ensure the establishment, maintenance, and oversight of all office records, ordering and maintenance of office equipment, furniture, and supplies.
• Ensure that all the purchases are in accordance with SportPesa procurement policies.
• Ensure that proper records were maintained for office expenditures, receipts, purchase orders and Quote evaluation.
• To undertake general office duties for example business travel and hotel accommodation on a frequent basis.
• Ensure safety and maintenance of all office equipment’s and premises.
• Ensure proper management of office motor vehicles and ensure coordinated use according to organization policies and priorities.
• Submit a monthly report to Administrative Officer on duties/assignments
• Any other duties assigned by the Management.

Skills and Qualifications
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Administrative Assistant at least two years.
• Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
• Proficiency in MS Applications.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
• Internal staff will be highly considered for the role.

Job Description
Afya Plus is a local Non-Governmental Organization registered in Tanzania under the NGOs Act No.24 of 2002, to contribute towards building of high quality and equitable health systems, delivery of people’s centered health services through evidence-based interventions, and ultimately have a community with better access to quality-integrated health services. We envision a community with equitable access to quality health services through working in partnership with the Government of Tanzania, local communities, and other key stakeholders. We foster data-driven programming, technical excellence, operational efficiency, and collaborative learning and adaptation for greater impact of our interventions that translate into bringing the balance of the health ecosystem. Afya Plus is currently supporting implementation of HIV and COVID-19 prevention interventions, RMNCAH/FP, Gender transformation programs, and Community-led monitoring activities across supported regions in Tanzania in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania, U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through USAID and CDC, local communities, and other key stakeholders.
Afya Plus is soliciting applications from excellent candidates to fill two (2) Program Officer positions based in Shinyanga, Tanzania.

Summary of Role:
The Program Officer will be responsible to support all technical issues related to Afya Plus programs at regional and council levels per National, PEPFAR and WHO standards while achieving the set of key program goals and deliverables. He/she will also be responsible for providing technical support on diverse programmatic aspect, performance monitoring, reporting and documentation at regional and council levels on implementation and scale up of high-quality interventions. The Program Officers will build and sustain strong partnerships with the respective regional and, council administrations with adequate engagement of local structures and other key stakeholders for programs continuity. The applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Afya Plus Coordinator.

Minimum requirements
• Medical Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Science, Nutrition or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum three years’ experience in a range of health programs including HIV/AIDS, RMNCAH/FP, Gender transformation, and/or nutrition programs is required.
• Multi-skilled with strong coordination, planning and writing skills, and demonstrable experience accomplishing planned tasks in a prioritized timely manner.
• Strong track record of coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating health programs will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of PEPFAR funded programs would be an added advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse stakeholders independently while being a member of a team.
• Good orientation of the National Health Reporting system with better grasp of recording and reporting tools.
• Experience of working with Regional and Council health officials, local structures and communities will be desired.

Head of Research and Monitoring Department (Ecologist)


Grumeti Fund is a private, non-profit Tanzanian conservation Trust whose mission is to help conserve the Serengeti Ecosystem by working closely with its Tanzanian Government primary partner – (TAWA), and the communities in Bunda and Serengeti Districts as well as other key public and private sector stakeholders. The Fund supports conservation work within and around Grumeti and Ikorongo Game Reserves, part of Ikona WMA, and adjoining limited-use areas in western Serengeti. Key focal areas and programs entail but are not limited to resource conservation and protection, habitat and species management, ecological monitoring, conservation awareness and education, applied socioecological research, and a set of robust need-based community outreach initiatives in the villages that immediately surround the Grumeti Concession.

Position summary:
The Head of Research and Monitoring (Ecologist) is an important member of Grumeti Fund’s senior leadership team (STRATCO) and sits in or contributes to essential Committees on Environment, Special projects, and Sustainability. The Ecologist heads the Research & Monitoring Department and manages all ecological monitoring work within Grumeti Concessions and as necessary engages other Grumeti Fund Heads of Department on research and monitoring needs, program planning, and activity implementation. Further, in discharging his/her strategic duties, the Ecologist appropriately liaises with the Tanzanian conservation and research Agencies and relevant local government authorities (e.g., TAWA, TAWIRI, TANAPA, COSTECH, and Bunda & Serengeti District Councils) on matters related to ecology and research especially as regards respective regulations, guidelines, and terms governing implementation of research and monitoring activities within and around the concession. He /she will have responsibilities on day-to- day management of the RM department by providing technical, administrative and capacity building (training and mentorship) support, while building and sustaining important partnerships and strategic collaborations with partners and stakeholders as deemed relevant by the Grumeti Fund.


Key Qualifications and Proficiencies:
• A fully qualified Terrestrial Ecologist and or Conservation Biologist with at least 4 to 6 years’ experience.
• Preferably, 50% of the experience must have been acquired post completion of the master’s degree.
• Holder of a PhD in the above field of study from a reputable university PLUS a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. degree in Wildlife Management, Ecology, Environmental Geography, Conservation Science, or other closely related field of study prior to acquiring the PhD.
• Exceptional or at least proficient knowledge and practical skills in ecological monitoring techniques, data science and GIS principles including but not limited to use of R and other programming language, Google Earth Engine, proprietary and open-source GIS tools, Tableau, advanced Excel, Database design, Distance,
• Cartalinx, cartography for environmental management, as well as modern data management and analysis tools relevant to responsibilities in this role.
• Demonstrable ability to conceptualize, plan, execute, report, and evaluate ecological monitoring and research projects, protocols, and or interventions in a terrestrial environment setting.
• Published (at least four relevant articles as the lead/primary author) in reputable, international, peer-reviewed journals. Evidence, including writing samples will be required for review.
• Exceptional ability in scientific writing and communication using effective strategies for diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven track record in writing successful proposals and experience administering budgets and donor funds in a fast-paced, internationally diverse work environment.
• Proven leadership, team management, and public speaking skills.
• Clean driving license – with experience driving manual cars in remote areas and rough terrain.
