Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT) aims to be the leading provider of accessible specialized health services in Africa and serves as healthcare social enterprise and through development programmes in the community and the most vulnerable. Committed to preventing lifelong disabilities wherever possible, CCBRT is also engaged in extensive maternal and newborn healthcare (MNHC) activities including obstetric fistula repairs. Its recently opened Maternity and Newborn Wing serves as a referral centre for high risk and emergency deliveries in the region of Dar es Salaam and the Eastern Zone of Tanzania.
In order to strengthen the Maintenance Department, we are looking for a multi-skilled Mason who can provide masonry services and assist in other maintanance services at CCBRT.

Your role
As Mason at CCBRT, your role includes fabricating, altering, repairing, and maintaining walls, sidewalks, street curbs, floors, bathroom showers, sink counters, partitions, manholes, and other related structures or surfaces. You determine work requirements and sequence of masonry assignments through review of work orders, plans, or drawings. You prepare surfaces prior to you start your work, you lay out work using chalk lines, and levels; You lay blocks or bricks following blueprints, plans, or drawings; You conduct your work as per standards and operate equipment accordingly.
Furthermore you will participate in the incinerator duties conducted by the maintenance team in shift work and assist with other activities of the maintenance team.

Your qualifications and work experience
• Secondary Certificate of Education (Form 4)
• Completed training in Masonry – Trade test 1
• Minimal 3 years of working experience in masonry or bricklaying experience;

JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the role
• Oversee all Central Workshop Engineering activities on Planning, Organizing, Coordination and Control to ensure cost effective maintenance practise with high safety standard achieved. This will cover Engineering Central workshop (Welding and Fabrication) , Transport Workshop, Irrigation and Water supply pumps, Heavy plant moving machines, Power Generators etc.

Accountabilities
• Maintenance.
• Trouble shooting on Motorcycles, Vehicles and Heavy equipments
• Identify, Develop and Write Safe Operating procedures and Maintenance Checklists. Not only but also training and monitoring employees compliance to those procedures by using positive and negative reward system.
• Ensure proper machines operations. This is by reviewing and writing Operator daily checklist. Carrying incident investigations on all plant machinery to identify root causes and develop some actions to restrict re occurrence
• Writing different reports (Daily, weekly, and Monthly) on Machinery status, people’s productivity, safety status, budget expenditure
• Provide technical support to ensure downtime is minimized and ensure machines are reliable. This is done by being involved on all Five Why analysis and Fisher bone tool, Supervising designs and modifications.
• Managing maintenance budget. This is by controlling and managing number of call outs and overtimes, monitoring section budget on monthly basis and writes variance reports, proper negotiations on spare and materials by using three quotes system.
• Managing fabrication workshop. This includes close monitoring on designs and quality of works done on the section, by providing refresh courses so as to increase reliability on machines
• Daily monitoring machines performance and take some relevant actions by using teamwork. This is by having daily meetings with artisans and other section engineers.
• Managing section by maintaining workplace discipline as per company policy. This through counselling and disciplinary hearing actions, close monitoring on their job performance.
• Managing all section projects to meet deadlines and controlling quality of projects and financial expenditure to be within approved budget.
• Planning scheduled maintenance and major plant maintenance. This includes identifying all works to be done, human resources and skills required based on time, tools requirements etc.
• Spares management and control. This includes reviewing stock levels, ordering spares timely, developing spare specifications to avoid wrong spare delivery, close monitoring with purchasing sections on committed orders
• Produce weekly and monthly reports on machines efficiency, manpower efficiency, project status and financial expenditure and forecasts
• Administration, Finance, logistics and supplies
• Advise Mechanical Engineer monthly on the status of the RM&C OPEX.
• Responsible co ordinating and monitoring central engineering activities including transport and tools distribution
• Processing departmental returns required for accounting purposes.
• Manage IR, welfare and is responsible for SHE in his/her department
• Deliver the business targets aligned to the Company Strategy into Action (SiA)
• Preparation of Department’s budgets & Capital Expenditure Proposals including vehicle omnibus, repair, maintenance, construction & track expenditure monthly.
• Control direct budgetary expenses through resource allocation and utilization in the section.
• Implement financial controls in the section as provided for in the accounting manual.
• Propose staffing needs in the section to the line manager.
• Handle internal industrial relation issues in the section in conjunction with line manager.

• Proposes new contractors for evaluation &Provide input into the list of approved contractors/consultants
• Verifies contracts, contractor payment and supplier invoice and submits to the line manager for approval.
• Administering contracts; ensuring adherence to health, safety and environmental policies and practices; registering all potential changes; instituting change control and approval procedures.
• Participate in contractor dispute/conflict resolution in conjunction with the line manager.
• Participate in tender opening meetings.
• Ensures Specific SHE Standard defined in Unilever’s mandatory requirements regarding the safe management of contractors, working both on site and off site are implemented which also applies to on-site “temporary agency contractors working under direct Unilever supervision”.
• Involved in the establishing of an approved list of contractor organisations/temporary personnel agencies (selection) and continuously review this list based on performance. This includes ensuring the contracted are legally permitted and certified for the type of work they are being enlisted for.
• Provides a third eye by regularly visiting areas where contractors are working to ensure the standards are strictly followed.
• To handle internal inspections/audits that must be undertaken by line management to verify compliance with this standard on a regular basis.
• Analyse and report contractor performance to management.

• Organize capacity building in service centres and satellite centres.
• Serve as a link between unit service centres and estate MH satellite workshops with central engineering workshop

Key Qualifications
• BSc. Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, BSc. Or Agricultural engineering
• Experience in Auto Mobile Workshop, Maintenance of Vehicles /Motorcycles /Heavy equipment maintenance/Knowledge of maintenance management and planning, Knowledge of maintenance of agricultural and irrigation machinery is an added advantage.
• At-least 3 years post-graduation experience.
• Registration with ERB/IET will be an added advantage.

Job Description
Purpose of Role

• The Field Engineering Business partner is responsible for maintenance management of all Field Technology and infrastructure (Mechanical, Irrigation infrastructure, Domestic Water Supply, Harvesting machinery and equipment, Fuel storage infrastructure). Ensure high standards of maintenance, lead in new technology rollout and ensure high productivity and longevity of all field installations at UTT.

Accountabilities

• Develop and supervise daily machine checklists, ensure all field machines have been inspected according to the maintenance schedule and checklists.
• Document and perform RCA and lessons learned logs for all observed faults in field machinery.
• Identify artisan skills and knowledge gap. Identify and organize inhouse and outsourced training for Field mechanics.
• Ensures all Field Workshop’s have sufficient inventory and maintenance records/documentation.
• Prepare and implement Machinery Maintenance Schedule for all machinery and field infrastructure.
• Maintain Inventory and asset register for field machinery and equipment.
• Track and respond to all Job request for field machinery on timely basis. Ensure all works must have job request and ensure proper machine history and documentation
• Supports installation of new field infrastructure and machinery.
• Takes charge of machinery modification and supports the implementation of WCM in the fields.
• Responsible for the implementation of all company safety policies and procedures in the Field Workshops.
• Resolve problems and propose investments in Field infrastructure and utilities.
• Deliver the business targets aligned to the Company Strategy.
• Coordinate planning of spares for annual Irrigation infrastructure overhaul and maintenance.

Continuous Improvement Management
• Should be OEE Champion for all Respective field workshops by ensuring all required data are captured and reported daily for discussion and proper recommendations on continuous improvement actions to improve OEE for the Fields.
• Should be champion on tracking agreed KPIs to process Supervisors, Senior Artisans and Section team leads to improve Factories performance on Safety, Factory availability and Made tea quality
• Work closely with Central Engineering workshop manager to continuously improve field engineering services.
• Do coaching to supervisors and team leads to empower their skills

Assets and Stocks
• Updates asset inventories records for the Fields.
• Maintain Machinery Inventory for all Fields including irrigation and workshops.
• Prepares and avail machinery and equipment for statutory inspection and calibration for legal compliance and safety integrity.
• Maintain and take responsibility for the Field workshop tools register.
• Monitor and validate Field related stock (Spares) movements in conjunction with the store’s clerks.
• Responsible for the utilization of assets in the field.
• Flag up redundant/obsolete assets to responsible manager for disposal.
• Ensure the day-to-day operation and smooth delivery of field services and monitor all field mechanics/operators.
• Monitor machinery key performance indicators for efficient operation; generate periodic reports.

Projects

• Carries out the implementation of Machinery safety, WCM in the Fields .
• Carries out implementation of projects, in liaison with engineering manager and agri-excellence team.
• Keep abreast with all new technology covering Irrigation, tea harvesting, and energy usage and make proposals for implementation where appropriate.
• Participate in field trials and implement actions.
• Implementation and follow up on improvement ideas on the field workshops.

Finance, logistics and supplies
• Requisitions and verifies quality of spares and materials ordered for field as per technical specification.
• Submits inputs into annual revenue & capital budgets.
• Provides technical specifications for the procurement of all field stock e.g., spare parts.
• Carries out cost management in the field workshop and ensures effective controls.
• Provide input into the monthly accounts review and implements agreed actions.
• Implement an effective procurement tracking system in the field workshops.

People

• Track and report daily artisan and operator productivity in the fields and take necessary actions for low performers while should motivate high performers.
• To train & develop field staff were necessary and ensure good operational and maintenance practises in the fields.
• Plans, allocates, and supervises all activities for field maintenance teams.
• Train & develop all field maintenance personnel in the Workshop on Safe maintenance procedures.
• Handles employee relations and maintains discipline in the workshop in conjunction with the responsible manager.
• Implement agreed welfare programmes and attend planned meetings ensuring completion of agreed actions.
• Responsible for the works team and ensures that agreed work plan targets and standards are implemented.
• Provide input and participate in the modular training of employees.

Social and welfare
• Implement all social welfare programmes including security, housing maintenance, recreation and general welfare amenities and schools in liaison with the unit manager.

Safety, Health, Environment, RA
• Authorizes issues and closes permits to work certificates in line with company policies for non-routine tasks related to field maintenance.
• Develops machinery safety in the field to meet Unilever standards.
• Maintains the workshop personnel reward/disciplinary and safety data.
• Should capture and prepare report for daily, weekly, and monthly safety performances in the field.
• Should work with Field managers and SHE Representatives to ensure proper risk assessment is done regularly and all observations/findings are captured, and action plan developed and tracked for Fields.

Qualifications & Experience Required
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Irrigation engineering/ Agricultural engineering or other relevant engineering degree.
• 4 Years’ experience.
