HR World Ltd on behalf of our client, we are looking for a Head of Field Operations who will be responsible for leading infrastructure development, operations, logistics, and maintenance projects across remote field sites inside national parks in Southern Tanzania.
RESPONSIBILITIES;
* Oversee planning, budgeting, and execution of infrastructure projects including camps, airstrips, workshops, staff housing, and fuel storage facilities.
* Ensure all construction is environmentally compliant and suitable for remote, ecologically sensitive areas.
* Manage a diverse fleet of marine, land, and aviation assets, ensuring timely maintenance and operational readiness.
* Supervise technical teams including mechanics, boat specialists, and drivers across multiple locations.
* Establish and manage central and field-based workshops for carpentry, metal works, and mechanical repair.
* Coordinate procurement and logistics for materials, tools, equipment, and supplies—including international sourcing and last-mile delivery.
* Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of all field bases and critical systems (solar power, plumbing, and communications).
* Manage project budgets and reporting, ensuring transparency and compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
* Liaise with community leaders, conservation partners, and park authorities for shared infrastructure use and smooth operations.
* Support infrastructure initiatives that benefit local communities and conservation efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS;
* Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
* Proven experience in field operations, logistics, or construction project management in protected or remote areas.
* Strong background in infrastructure development, including camps, workshops, and technical facilities.
* Solid knowledge of procurement and supply chain management for remote field operations.
* Hands-on experience with boat maintenance, fiberglass repairs, and engine management.
* Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and multi-site project teams effectively.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills with experience managing diverse technical teams.
* Familiarity with solar power systems and off-grid infrastructure is an added advantage.
* Experience in Southern Tanzania or large-scale infrastructure projects in East Africa is highly desirable.
