CARE Tanzania seeks to recruit a self-motivated, result driven, dynamic, suitably qualified, competent and dedicated Tanzanian for the Short-terms position of Program Officer – Community Mobilization to be based in Nzega, Tabora.

JOB SUMMARY:
CARE Tanzania is implementing the Tabora Maternal and Newborn Health Initiative (TAMANI) with the ultimate outcome of improving maternal and reproductive health in eight districts of Tabora region. Positive maternal health outcomes will be achieved through improving availability of quality reproductive, maternal, and newborn health services; and to increasing utilization of reproductive, maternal, and newborn health services by women and their families. Immediate outcomes for the project include: Strengthened capacity of regional and district health system managers to effectively plan, manage, and deliver quality gender-sensitive reproductive, maternal, and newborn health services; Improved gender-sensitive reproductive, maternal and newborn health service infrastructure; Improved knowledge and skills of health providers to deliver gender-sensitive reproductive, maternal, and newborn clinical services; Increased access to gender-sensitive reproductive, maternal newborn health services; and Improved ability of women to seek reproductive, maternal and newborn health services. TAMANI is a four-year project which is implemented from January 2017 to June 2021.
The position will be based in Nzega, Tabora and report directly to the Program Initiative Manager.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct quarterly monitoring for emergency transportation
• Facilitate visits to mentor health care workers on youth friendly services
• Facilitate community youth sexual education meetings in collaboration with youth champions
• Conduct interface Meetings for Community Score Cards (CSC)
• Conduct Social Analysis and Action (SAA) dialogues on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) with Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and community groups
• Conduct community awareness meetings on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
• Collect Rolling Profile Data from identified participants
• Conduct quarterly monitoring for emergency transportation
• Monitor implementation of action plans from Community Score Cards
• Monitor implementation of action plans from Social Analysis and Action dialogues


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in community development, social work, education or related field.
• At least one year of working experience in community mobilization
Desired
Master’s Degree in community development or related field.
EXPERTISE REQUIRED:
Training and facilitation skills
Knowledge and understanding of gender analysis in rural communities
Computer skills (Microsoft Office Package)
Good monitoring skills
Proficient oral and written skills in English and Kiswahili
Good understanding of community mobilization methodologies and practices
Solid report-writing skills
Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, and participatory approaches.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and adaptability in rural community.
Experience of working with government staff and government authorities
WORK PLAN AND TIMEFRAME:
The activities will be implemented from January 01st 2021 to March 31st 2021.
