In North America, over 97% of patients requiring treatment for kidney disease receive care; in East Africa, less than 5% receive care. AHN's goal is to increase access to high quality care at a lower cost to patients, delivered through a sustainable business model. AHN is currently operating in Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania.

JOB DETAILS:

Job Description
AHN is seeking a highly-motivated individual with outstanding leadership and management qualities to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The role includes working hand-in-hand with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer on the development of financial and operating strategies, metrics tied to these strategies and the continuous development of processes and control systems designed to ensure proper accounting of Company assets and financial results. This will require working with controllers in each respective country. We are looking for a goal-oriented, personable and collaborative team member who understands and respects cultural subtleties. Based across East Africa in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, the CFO will work to oversee AHN’s strategic vision and direction in the countries the Company operates. As part of the senior leadership team, and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CFO will play a significant role liaising with the Board of Directors and existing and future investors in order to ensure the Company is effectively managing its capital and structure.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the CEO in defining the Company’s overall strategy, develop clear financial projections for execution, and continually identify opportunities for AHN to add value and maximize impact:
  
• Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
  
• Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
  
• Develop financial and tax strategies
  
• Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
  
• Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
  
• Oversee the financial management of the various clinics working alongside the local finance lead, including monthly cash flow and financial reporting, audits, cash allocations, and budget forecasting and planning:
  
• Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
  
• Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
  
• Manage the accounting, human resources, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments
  
• Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations
  

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Accounting or
• Business Administration, or equivalent business experience
  
• At least 5 years of work experience in the private or public sector, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership
  
• Strong understanding of country specific tax laws and structuring opportunities to maximize value for the Company and its shareholders’
  
• Proven success stories of how your work has been used to make critical business decisions that have delivered real business value
  
• Experience conceiving, planning and executing complex programs or projects with verifiable results
  
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  
• Ability to work through sensitive political contexts and develop strong relationships with government officials and multilateral organizations
  
• Ability to work with limited budgets and human resources without extensive structural or operational support
  
• Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  Strong work ethic and flexibility, respectful of local norms and culture, ability to work with humility and urgency
  
• Comfortable with International Finance Reporting Standards working across multiple countries (e.g. Mauritius, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya)
  
• High levels of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks) and HR software.
